News and Information:Catcher Concept

The Catcher Concept was introduced by Holden America as a supplementary vehicle restraint system, to be used in conjunction with the existing Grate/Lock Chock System. Designed to minimize the effects of over-speed impacts, a one piece, non-adjustable chock dubbed 'The Catcher Chock' is used inboard of the vehicle's tires.

Four standard chocks are positioned in the standard outboard location, and four catcher chocks are placed three inches inboard of either the front or rear wheels. The concept works like this:

Under over speed impact conditions, as the front wheels climb and are about to go over the front chocks, the rear catcher chocks come into play and catch the vehicle at the jump over point, thus containing the vehicle in its original chock securement area.
